JOB POSTING-Trade Assistant

DIRECTLY REPORTS TO : Senior Trade Commissioner

With the recent opening of the Department of Trade and Industry representative office in Canada, the Philippine Consulate General (Trade Section) is looking for additional staff members to support the performance of its trade and investment programs in Canada.

The Office is looking for:
• an individual with strong work ethic
• holds a business, economics or communications degree
• with relevant knowledge in market research and of Philippine economic policies.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
 Assist in the implementation of trade and investment promotion programs.
 Establish connection with Canadian government agencies, industry associations, chambers and other business service organizations.
 Build an updated in-house database of contacts and establish an efficient information system in the office.
 Prepare presentations, speeches, correspondence, reports, letters, memoranda, forms and official documents including briefing papers, diplomatic notes and record of meetings.
 Conduct targeted economic and market research.
 Monitor developments in Canadian trade foreign and domestic trade and economic policy, especially those related to Canada-Philippine relations.
 Develop reservoir of knowledge and expertise in specific Philippine industry sectors.
 Facilitate investments and provide assistance to investors.
 Undertake public relations and communication work for trade and investment programs and projects.
 Attend meetings on behalf of the Senior Trade Commissioner, as may be deemed necessary.
 Assist in administrative work, when necessary.
Requirements:
 University or College diploma
 Legal authorization to work in Canada
 Proficient in MS Office; Google Sheets, Google Docs, Google Forms), Social media and mobile apps, skype and other messaging platforms.
 Strong communication (written and verbal skills) Pilipino language is an asset
 Police Reference Check
 Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends and holidays
 Driver’s License required

Contract Duration: From August 1, 2017 to August 2018 (includes 6-month probationary period. Contract may be extended.)
Salary : To be determined through interview
Usual Hours of work: 8:30 am to 5:30 pm (with 1-hour lunch break), Monday to Friday
Overtime : Occasional overtime outside office hours, weekend or public holidays may be required.
Travel: Occasional travel may be required (within province and outside Canada)
