Deadline for Submission of Nominations to the Philippine Consulate General, Toronto for the 2020 Presidential Awards for Filipino Individuals and Organizations Overseas

The Consulate General of the Philippines in Toronto is reminding everyone that it is still accepting nominations for the 2020 Presidential Awards for Filipino Individuals and Organizations Overseas. All nominations should be coursed through the Philippine Consulate General, Toronto for review and endorsement to the CFO.

In view of the extension of the deadline of submission of entries to the Awards Secretariat of the Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO), which was earlier announced by the Consulate General, copy attached for ease of reference, please be informed that the Consulate General will be accepting nominations until 23 October 2020.

As previously announced the Presidential Awards highlights the time-honored Filipino values of bayanihan or the convergence of pakikipagkapwa, pagtutulungan and pagkakaisa. The four (4) award categories are:

Lingkod sa Kapwa Pilipino (LINKAPIL) Award – conferred on Filipino individuals or organizations for their exceptional or significant contribution to progress and development in the Philippines.

Banaag Award – conferred on Filipino individuals or organizations for their contributions that have significantly benefited a sector of the diaspora, or advanced the cause and interest of overseas Filipino communities.

Pamana ng Pilipino Award – conferred on overseas Filipino individuals, who, in exemplifying the talent and industry of the Filipino, have brought the country honor and recognition through excellence and distinction in the pursuit of their work or profession.

Kaanib ng Bayan Award – conferred on foreign individuals (natural-born) and organizations for their exceptional or significant contribution to Philippine progress and development, or in advancing the cause or promoting the interests of overseas Filipino communities.


Please be reminded of the following additional requirements which should be submitted together with the nomination:

  1. Introductory video about the nominee, maximum of 3 minutes (sec. 5.8.4.);

  2. Certification of no derogatory records to be issued by the Philippine Consulate General (sec. 5.8.5.);

  3. Board Resolution – for organization nominees, certifying that they are applying for the Award (sec. 5.8.10.);

  4. Board Resolution – for individual nominee who is a member or officer of an organization certifying that accomplishments and contributions cited in the nomination were done through his/her individual capacity and not of the organization where he/she belongs (sec. 5.8.11.).

As relayed in the previous announcement, the completed nomination forms and supporting documents should be placed in a clear book presentation folder or in any other preferred presentation styles. Submission can be done by post/mail to the Philippine Consulate General at the following address: PCG Toronto-2020 Presidential Awards Secretariat, Philippine Consulate General, 7/F – 160 Eglinton Avenue East, Toronto, Ontario M4P 3B5. Personal submission is now also allowed, from Monday to Friday, 10:00am – 4:00pm. Advance copies of the nomination form could be sent to consularmatters@philcongen-toronto.com.
