24 October 2025 — In commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations and of the Philippines’ membership therein, and in conjunction with the celebration of World Post Day on 09 October, which marks the establishment of the Universal Postal Union (UPU), of which the Philippines is a member, Consul General Kristine Leilani R. Salle donated copies of the UN80 Commemorative Stamps and Official First Day Covers to Toronto’s First Post Office (TFPO) for inclusion in its permanent collections.
At the turnover on 23 October, Consul General Salle noted the significance of the donation, underscoring the Philippines’ and Canada’s shared commitment to advancing the UN Charter’s core principles of peace, justice, and international cooperation through multilateral, regional, and bilateral channels, especially during this time of heightened global uncertainty.
Receiving the commemorative stamps on behalf of the TFPO, Executive Director Jessica Winter and Museum Coordinator Rebecca Rizzo welcomed the Consulate’s initiative, noting that the Philippines is the first country to make such a donation.
The UN80 Commemorative Stamps and Official First Day Covers will form part of the TFPO’s research archives, which is accessible to the public by appointment basis.
