TORONTO FILCOM WELCOMES BACK THE WINTER ESCAPADE

Toronto, 23 August 2023- The Philippine Consulate General in Toronto and the Philippine Department of Tourism (DOT) New York co-hosted the launch of the Winter Escapade 8 on 23 August 2023 at Casa Manila in North York.
The Winter Escapade is a tourism promotion program of all Philippine Foreign Service Posts in Canada designed to take visitors to new destinations and attractions in the Philippines. The Winter Escapade 8 will take visitors to Manila, Iloilo, Cebu and Bohol from 18 to 27 February 2024.
Consul General Angelica C. Escalona welcomed more than 50 guests during the launch consisting of representatives from travel agencies, airlines, the media and Filipino community organizations. The Consul General said, “The Winter Escapade goes beyond the usual tours to the Philippines as it offers the best sights and experiences. It is a journey in our continuing quest to discover what it means to be a Filipino”.
DOT New York Attaché Francisco Lardizabal presented the detailed itinerary, noting that the Winter Escapade provides not only an opportunity to enjoy and have fun, but also an opportunity to help the Philippine tourism industry and workers in this sector recover from the pandemic.
Also at the launch to respond to inquiries were Mr. Jose Clemente III of Rajah Tours, the ground tour operator in the Philippines, and Mr. Allan Coo, Philippine Airlines Country Manager for Canada.
The launch helped set the mood for the Winter Escapade 8, featuring a performance of Original Pilipino Music (OPM) songs and a special buffet of dishes inspired by this next year’s Winter Escapade destinations including mango salsa salad, lechon and lechon tacos, chicken inasal skewers, beef kaldereta, vegan cassava cake and calamansi iced tea and mojitos.
