Simultaneous Launch of the 500-Day Countdown to the 2021 Quincentennial Commemorations in the Philippines

The Sentro Rizal – Toronto of the Philippine Consulate General participated at the Simultaneous Launch of the 500-Day Countdown to the 2021 Quincentennial Commemorations in the Philippines on 14 December 2019 at 6:00 pm (GMT +8).

Consul General Orontes V. Castro led the Philippine Consulate General Toronto officers and staff in the lighting ceremony to usher in the 500-Day Countdown.

17 December 2019, Toronto, Canada – The Philippine Consulate General’s Sentro Rizal-Toronto joined all Philippine Foreign Service Posts and Department of Foreign Affairs offices, including RCOs and COs during the simultaneous lighting ceremony to usher in the 500-day countdown to the 2021 Quincentennial Commemorations in the Philippines at 6:00 pm (GMT +8) on 14 December 2019.

The National Quincentennial Committee (NQC), of which the DFA is a member of, was created through Executive Order No. 55 mandated as the Steering Committee of the 2021 Quincentennial Commemorations in the Philippines. The theme for the momentous celebration is “Victory and Humanity”.

The Consulate were all lights-off and eagerly awaited the signal to light the Christmas lantern which adorned the Christmas tree. Afterwards, the Quincentennial theme song, Bagani, was played, and everyone sang along.

The Consulate General also posted on its Facebook account the link to the livestreaming of the simultaneous launch of the 500-day countdown. END
